[mythtv-users] Upgrading Gentoo backend -> 0.15.1

I have a Gentoo backend running MythTV 0.14. It also has the corresponding
versions of MythMusic and MythWeb installed. I've become rather attched to
Myth, hence my caution regarding the upgrade! I have two questions:-

1) Is it best to unmerge the old versions prior to emerging 0.15.1, or is
it safe to let emerge install the new and uninstall the old?

2) I don't use the backend machine as a frontend - do I need to have any
of the Myth 'extras' (other than MythWeb, of course) installed on the
backend as well as the frontend? As far as I can work out, MythWeb goes on
the backend, and all the others go on the frontend, but I'd like to
confirm that.
