Hello Mike,
I think you're mistaking IRDA with lirc (which MythTV needs)
IRDA is the infrared system to connect cell-phones, printers, PDA's and
such.
The IR you need for MythTV is the one which understands remote controls
-> one of the lirc supported hardware devices. You can build these
yourself or use an IR port of your PVR or bttv card.
The Pundit has no IR receiver built in but you can add one quite easy
and connect it to the serial port. This is the same for all other
motherboards or computers you'd like to use.
I'm running a Pundit as frontend and left the bttv card in there maybe
one day I'll try to get it going again for live TV viewing if the
backend is busy recording from the PVR250 card.
For now I'm just using the remote receiver (through lirc_gpio) of this
bttv card and its remote control for controlling MythTV. The receiver is
dangling in front of the Pundit waiting to be mounted permanently after
making a nice cutout in the Pundit's frontpanel.. :-)
