Well first off I have a pvr250mce type 1 with 32552 on
the tuner. I would be VERY careful if you want to buy
an MCE card that you get the right type. To my
knowledge there are two types and the second type code
named Roslyn will not work with IVTV and its unclear
how long it will take before it will. The two things
I used to clarify the type is the # on the tuner case
and the chipset. Search IVTV and they'll give you the
exact info.
Otherwise the MCE cards are very similar to 250 except
they don't have a IR remote but they do have a FM
tuner. Not sure if the MCE has any decoder hardware
built in. I think I've heard that the latest MCE
boards have a better sound processor then the 250 but
that might just be the Roslyn board.
As for cost I'm not sure where your getting a standard
250 from but my MCE was $85 US and I couldn't find a
straight 250 for less then $125 or so. So the MCE is
quite a bit cheaper in my experience.
Hope this helps..
