[mythtv-users] PCI Serial card and second Hauppauge card.

I currently have a setup that requires a serial port in my mythtv box to
control my digital cable box. However the system I built only had one serial
port and I figured that would not be an issue... however I was looking
online today and noticed a few PCI based serial cards. However I have a few
questions maybe someone can answer.

 

1)       If I add the second capture card my current Hauppauge's audio out
pipes into the audio in of my sound card. Is this necessary if I am not
using the TV-out function on the Hauppauge card?

2)       Anyone know a better way to control the Sci Atl Explorer 2100 and
3100 series of boxes other than a IR blaster?

3)       Anyone able to recommend a card that works well without any extra
drivers in Fedora Core 1?
