 	Maybe so.  I don't think that consumers will cooperate with the 
Beta/VHS fiasco again, so DVCR's will be stymied by that.  I could see settop 
PVRs (maybe dumb, even) with encrypted video storage working for the average 
consumer.  In the end, this probably affects broadcast HDTV (8VSB), which is 
pretty much limited to local stations.  The cable folks (QAM) can do their own 
encryption since they can control both the transmission and the settop box.

 	I think that the folks pushing the broadcast flag are willing to allow 
SDTV analog captures.  They may have macrovision[ish] copy protection schemes 
on them, but so long as it's a quality reduction they seem to be OK with it.
