This is all interesting theory, but the problem remains, and gets more

I removed everything except the video and IDE card, and put the 250MCE 
back in.  Still not recognized.  I removed the 250MCE and put the 250 
back in.  It worked fine.  Ok, maybe the 250MCE is just hosed?

I put the 250MCE into my "play" box, and it comes right up.  For some 
reason, the other box just doesn't like the 250MCE.  Anyone see this 
behavior?

The two remaining cards in the old box are a GeForce4 440 MX AGP 8x, and 
a Silicon Image, Inc. (formerly CMD Technology Inc) PCI0680 Ultra 
ATA-133 Host Controller, running the 2 HDs and a CDROM.

Any thoughts?
