I've had that page bookmarked for some time as it solved the problems I was
having with Xine, mplayer, and xmms. :-)  I'm using dxs_support=3 and
forcing everything to 48000.  That eliminates the static when using the
other apps.  Myth doesn't produce the same kind of static, but rather the
sound is grainy and lacks clarity.  As for which sound device I use, I've
tried /dev/dsp and /dev/adsp and the only difference is that the latter
produces louder output than the former.

I tried setting up snd_bt87x (which, if I understand it correctly, is like
btaudio) using the instructions here:
http://www.mythtv.info/moin.cgi/BtaudioHowTo.  Following the instructions
messed up some of my modules, so I just inserted the module from the command
line.  That worked and created /dev/dsp1.  However, when I tried configuring
Myth to output audio to /dev/dsp1, it reported that there was no sound.  So
I'm going to assume that my TV card doesn't support btaudio.  So I guess
I'll have to figure out how to make things sound nice using ALSA or OSS.

Thanks for the thought, Kevin.  More ideas are welcome.
