This is a focus issue. Are you running a window manager?

This came up a few weeks ago, so you can search the archives for more
information. A workaround is to go to the videos and play something
through mplayer; when you exit, things should behave normally again.
The solution is to run a window manager.

What worked for me was to launch `fvvwm2 &' in .xinitrc before
mythfrontend. I'm using the 1-liner .fvwm2rc:

# Submitted by Scott Elliott <selliott at insight.rr.com>
Style myth* NoTitle, NoHandles, Sticky, WindowListSkip, SloppyFocus,
GrabFocus, BorderWidth 0

No other discernible differences between this setup and not running a
wm, other than the focus problem doesn't happen, and I think the xine
splash screen has a border around it (which is also configurable, but
it doesn't bother me, so I haven't tried).

Has anyone looked into forcing mythfrontend into focus after a child
process exits?
