[mythtv-users] bttv performance under 2.6

I am unable to make the switch to the 2.6 kernel due to _poor_
performance of the bttv encoding. With the 2.4 kernel, I have always
been able to watch live tv with my 900Mhz Athlon system. Live tv pegs
the CPU at 80-90%, but the system is still usable as a desktop. With
every 2.6 kernel that I've tried, simply encoding from my bttv card pegs
the CPU. Any additional CPU stress causes dropped frames and loss of
sync between audio/video - general badness.
I've tried various combinations of IO-schedulers (as and cfq) and CPU
schedulers (default and staircase), but have found similar results,
regardless.
I'll keep trying different scheduler combinations, but I was hoping that
someone else might have hit upon a workable solution.
Thanks,
Chris
