[mythtv-users] Can't get video data from capture card

I can't get mythtv (0.15.1) to read video data from the capture card (Hauppauge Nova-T). The card works fine using tzap/dvbstream producing a reliable video/audio MPEG stream with no errors or glitches which mplayer renders perfectly - so I'm pretty sure the card / modules are working fine.

When I run mythfrontend and select watch TV I just see a black screen for 15 seconds before the frontend menu reappears. There's no audio during that time. It seems from the backend output that the backend cannot read the videostream data from the card

Here's the trace fom the backend

Starting up as the master server.

As you can see, mythtv seems to get data for the audio but nothing at all for the video stream...:(

I also get the same for attempted recordings (which figures..)

Here are the /dev entries (I'm using devfs but have manually chmoded the perms to allow easy access for now)

  crw-rw-rw- 1 root video 250, 4 Jan 1 1970 demux0
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root video 250, 5 Jan 1 1970 dvr0
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root video 250, 3 Jan 1 1970 frontend0
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root video 250, 7 Jan 1 1970 net0

I'm using kernel 2.4.25-gentoo-r2. lspci output is

0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 651 Host (rev 02)
0000:00:01.0 PCI bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] Virtual PCI-to-PCI bridge (AGP)
0000:00:02.0 ISA bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS962 [MuTIOL Media IO] (rev 25)
0000:00:02.5 IDE interface: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 5513 [IDE]
0000:00:02.7 Multimedia audio controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] Sound Controller (rev a0)
0000:00:03.0 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] USB 1.0 Controller (rev 0f)
0000:00:03.1 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] USB 1.0 Controller (rev 0f)
0000:00:03.3 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] USB 2.0 Controller
0000:00:04.0 Ethernet controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS900 PCI Fast Ethernet (rev 91)
0000:00:0f.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7146 (rev 01)
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 65x/M650/740 PCI/AGP VGA Display Adapter

And the only thing I've noticed (from lspci -v) is that the SAA7146 shares the same IRQ (10) as the SIS Sound Controller. However, if that were a problem, surely the tzap/dvbstream playback would be faulty?

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Mark
