The other issue that I ran into, at least with my universal remote, is that it 
didn't have enough memory to learn all the keys I wanted to program (about 
40). It meant I had no choice but to make the remote work with lirc, rather 
than simply circumventing it with an IR keyboard receiver. However, in the 
end, I'm quite happy, and it really wasn't that hard.
