[mythtv-users] native lirc support

<top posting due to peer pressure>

I cannot believe that the problem is due to the ivtv driver since
it is not used to read data from the IR input on the card. Try
this simple test: unload the ivtv driver and then load your lirc
modules (lirc_dev and lirc_i2c) and start the lircd daemon. If
irw and other lirc compatible programs now receive data then
try loading the ivtv module. Try irw again. If you could properly
receive data prior to loading ivtv but not after loading ivtv then
I would be extremely surprised.

Just for the record, I am using post-0.13 myth (not current cvs)
with ivtv 0.1.9 and have no problems getting IR data from my
PVR-250. Personally, I don't have the cohones to keep
absolutely up-to-date with Myth cvs, so I hang back until things
stabilize (like for the point revisions). If you are running a very
recent cvs you may want to either: a) back-rev to a slightly
earlier version or b) update to a more recent cvs (maybe this
issue was subsequently resolved [you DO subscribe to the
Myth updates list, right?]).

Of course, based on my own past experience, you may just
want to plug the IR receiver back into its socket ;-)

If you try the above and make no progress you might want to
post your lirc version, Myth version and any other pertinent
info to aid in debugging. A detailed description of exactly what
transpired between working lirc and non-working lirc might also
provide some insight (software installed, hardware changes,
any possibly useful info).

HTH!
