[mythtv-users] Front end only works as root?

Hiya,

I finally have gotten most of my setup-bugs worked out, and now I'm 
making some progress. I've got the mythbackend running as user mythtv, 
but when I run mythfrontend as the same user and then try and watch 
Live TV, I just get a blank screen which I can't do anything will, 
except SSH in and kill the process (or Ctrl-Alt-Fx).

Strangely, mythfrontend runs as root though. Also, mplayer and xawtv 
run fine as user mythtv.

Any ideas?
