[mythtv-users] What motherboard or chipset to choose?

Hi,

So I have this great PVR 350 card. Installed everything from AtRPMS using
several excellent guides and howtos found on the Internet.

My current motherboard is an ASUS – P4S800
(http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket478/p4s800/overview.htm). This MB has
a SiS 648FX chipset

I seem to have the much discussed APIC and DMA problems. MythTV works perfect,
but after a few channel changes or other demanding operations, the ivtv
driver begins to give errors.

Instead of disabling half the hardware and patching and recompiling the
software, why not buy hardware that is known to work (stable)?

I was wondering if changing MB would help me or are the drivers themselves
responsible for most of the problems? I was thinking about an Abit or ASUS
motherboard with a high end Intel chipset (i865PE) e.g. Abit BD7II S478
i845E ATX FSB533 DDR. I am not fluent in hardware, so I am just pasting some
stuff here.

Would that help? Or will that only get rid of a smaller part of the problems?

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
