And don't be confused with the use of the same words in a different
context when talking about the pvr350. The component on the card that
drives the tv-out is called an encoder, because it encodes the signal to
tv format and on the input is the tv decoder.

So the whole chain is:

Cable -> TV decoder -> A/V grabber -> MPEG encoder -> FDD -> MPEG
decoder -> TV encoder -> TV

Just nitpicking to create mayor amounts of confusion :-)
