FAT32 performance is ok for me, but the file size limit of 2 GB might be a 
problem when using mjpeg compression. I changed my 40 GB VFAT "transfer" 
partition to ext3. Now I use a "read all, write native" FS philosophy. 
Cleanup does not matter that much, because linux takes more and more run 
time.

I use explore2fs to read ext3 from windows XP (NTFS). Readonly is always safe 
to your data...
