[mythtv-users] Which video card is a better choice?

By far, the hardest part about picking a card for myth use is finding
one that satisfies your needs _and_ has proper (hardware and software)
support for XVideo. I won't bore you with the litany of cards that I
have tried and failed with; what has worked for me are 1) Any NVIDIA
card with the proprietary nvidia driver (not the "nv" driver that comes
standard with XFree86) and a Matrox G200 with the standard "mga" driver.

I don't need TV-out because I bought a scan converter, so I'm happy with
the Matrox G200 because it works and doesn't need a fan. If I needed a
card with TV-out, I would probably get a 440MX, use the proprietary
NVIDIA driver and cross my fingers about the problematic overscan
adjustments.
