[mythtv-users] Knoppmyth on sony vaio laptop?

Has anyone tried to run knoppmyth on a sony vaio? I tried, but it freezes 
starting X. Straight knoppix runs OK, I'm wondering if there's something simple 
I can do to get this working?  My machine is a V505AP, recent vintage vaio.

I never have enough time these days to really get to grips with this sort of 
stuff. If I do figure it out, I'll post the resolution here.
