[mythtv-users] ivtv / pvr250 MCE problem...

I'm running a PVR-250 MCE in my first box and it works fine for me. Here's
my section of modules.conf

# ivtv modules setup
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 ivtv
options tuner type=2
options msp3400 once=1 simple=1
add below ivtv msp3400 saa7115 tuner
add above ivtv lirc_dev lirc_i2c

Hope it helps!

Scott

It appears that the ivtv driver doesn't detect the MCE card correctly. It
detects it as a V3 card, but doesn't have support for it. That's a really
rough translation of some freakishly in-depth thread I found. There is a
workaround, I'm just trying to translate it into English now :)

The src. rpm rebuild process takes the firmware out of one of the exe files
and creates an rpm that you can use to install the fireware.
You might have to rename the exe file to what the rpm build process expects.
Or read the ivtv list archive to see how to manually extract the firmware

That said - they really do use the same firmware. I have used both cards
with the same fireware and they both work fine.

So I really suspect that it is not the firmware that is causing your
problem.
