You know what?  Answers like that are not designed to be helpful, they're
trying to teach someone a lesson that need not be learned.  I've googled,
I've looked in the archives, I've even been on the IRC channel for ivtv and
not had any results.

I even mentioned that I looked in the archives below.  I thought maybe that
it would be implied that I visited other sources.  My mistake.

Save the smart-ass responses on me.  This is a very active list with
knowledgeable people who could very well have an answer to the question that
I asked.  If you don't happen to have the answer, spare the keystrokes and
simply don't reply to the email.
