[mythtv-users] ivtv / pvr250 MCE problem...

Hi all,

 

I'm following Jarod's HowTo, and when I try to test ivtv, I do a
/sbin/depmod -a and then a /sbin/modprobe ivtv.  At this point, if I have my
PVR-250 in the machine, it works fine.  If I use my PVR-250-MCE instead, the
system hangs.

 

Since my PVR-250 actually has a bad tuner (long, long story), I have to use
the PVR-250-MCE.  For those not familiar, I think this is the "freestyle"
board.it has no remote, but does have an FM tuner and RCA audio-in jacks.

 

I've read, both here and on ivtv's archive, that the firmware is the same
for each of these (and the 350).  My guess, though, is that I need to use a
different rev of the firmware for this card for whatever reason.  When I
follow the link from Jarod's site, all that exist are .exe files.  How can I
use those exe files for my card?  The firmware downloaded from atrpms is an
.rpm file.  I'm hoping someone can run through the steps for me, since I'm
still relatively green.
