Just be sure to mount them on every frontend at exact the same mountpoint!
I messed up the database several times by mounting the files at 
different mountpoints on different front-ends.
Same problem is with the MythMusic module.

It would be nice if the backend streamed the audio and video data to the 
frontend to be decoded/played.

With Live TV this is already happening isn't it ?
