Be careful.  Not all NVidia cards are equal.  My understanding with the
440MX, for example, is that the 'SE' version doesn't have a fan, but the
other does.  Apparently the SE is a respin of the chipset with a smaller
feature size, so it produces less heat.

Also, is the GPU fan really a major noise source?  The case will muffle
that much more effectively than the case fan or power supply fan--you
may have better luck deal with those fans first.

On a related note, I can use the 'sensors' command (from the lmsensors
package) to display the motherboard and CPU temperature (though they're
reversed for some reason).  Is there any way to display the GPU
temperature?
