I have this same problem, although not necessarily only when run from a 
startup script.  I run my nvtv command a couple times but it doesn't seem 
to help...  it fixes the screen but then later on it'll be small again.  
I've also tweaked the position from within mythfrontend (to shift it a 
little to the right)... but then sometimes it's shifted way too far to the 
right for no apparent reason.  It seems that the same settings (in 
mythfrontend location and nvtv) don't always produce the same result.
