[mythtv-users] Starting out - Which Distribution?

Hello Michael,

i'm actually using gentoo with mythtv and am really happy with it. The
most important reasons for this are:
- the excellent package handling of gentoo, easy to handle and always
up to date
- keeping up to cvs can be easily done with the emerge tool of gentoo
which keeps the ability to remove the whole program with only one
command
- gentoo is not easy to install, but it's extremely well documented -
so if you're able to read, it's not a problem

I don't know mandrake. Before i switched to gentoo, i was using debian.
With debian i got some really complicated dependency problems as i had
packages from unstable, testing and stable. And upgrading the system
was almost impossible. - But i still use debian on servers where i
don't need the latest packages (= using stable) and i'm relly happy
with debian in this situation but it simply doesn't fit in an
environment where you need up-to-date (and sometimes experimental)
software.

Hope it helps,
Daniel
