[mythtv-users] mythbackend dies after a few seconds

I had myth (.16 installed from .debs) running on a current Debian
unstable system (just updated yesterday). It was working apparently OK
after the update until this evening. I shut the machine down and added
a 200 gig drive to it and now the backend dies about 5 seconds after
starting. As far as I know, there were no software or configuration
changes except installing the additional hard drive. I disconnected the
new drive but myth-backend still dies.

I had a problem something like this a year ago after an update that
turned out to be that the updated discover scrit was loading the OSS
drivers before ALSA started. I don't think that that is what is
happening now but am not sure.

I set verbose logging on the myth backend but don't see anything in
the log that tells me why the backend is dying. Can someone please give
me a hint what to look for next? Here are the module list and
mythbackend log. Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

As near as I can tell, the "filename is null/empty" messages at the end
come out about the time that the backend dies.
