[mythtv-users] myth stops recording early

I've been having a few problems with my myth 0.15.1 installation, such
as a hang when I try to watch a program while it's recording. I've kind
of worked around that by being careful, but this particular problem is
rendering my myth virtually useless: it stops recording several minutes
early.

It's quite consistent...if it's a 30 minute program, it only records the
first 23'58'. If it's a 60 minute program, it only records the first
54'xx''.

I turned up logging to "all" to see if I could see any clues, and
recorded a 15 minute program. Everything looks normal to my eye:

2004-08-25 09:19:01 Started recording "Watch My Chops" on channel: 1003
on cardid: 1, sourceid 1
2004-08-25 09:19:01 45 BACKEND_MESSAGE[]:[]SCHEDULE_CHANGE[]:[]empty
2004-08-25 09:19:01 TuneToFrequency(3584)
2004-08-25 09:19:01 Changing from None to RecordingOnly
2004-08-25 09:19:01 51
BACKEND_MESSAGE[]:[]RECORDING_LIST_CHANGE[]:[]e...
2004-08-25 09:19:01 Using profile 'Default' to record
2004-08-25 09:35:00 switching to overrecord for 60 more seconds
2004-08-25 09:36:00 Changing from RecordingOnly to None
2004-08-25 09:36:00 51 BACKEND_MESSAGE[]:[]DONE_RECORDING 1
1016[]:[]e...

When I view it, though, it's not the expect 17 minute, but more like 13
minutes and a few seconds. In the frontend logs, I see, when I view it:

2004-08-25 09:41:40 All Programs

The error loading file seems weird, but that's probably not a big
problem. I don't quite understand why it's initializing "Commercial
Detection", since I have all that turned off. Could that be an issue?

Anyhow, I'm stumped, can anyone help?

Thanks to everyone for the help about x/y offsets and KDE...I ended up
just using kdm so it would autologin, and xfce for running myth.

Thanks,
Eric
