[mythtv-users] Prebuffering Pause / High CPU Usage / what the heck?

I am having a problem with one of my machines playing back LiveTV and
recorded TV. The machine (which is across a network from the master back
end) jumps to 96+% cpu usage when playing back video. As a result MythTV
creates buffering pauses every 1 - 3 seconds that chop up the video. I
am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to why this is
happening or what to check to figure it out....
This is the computer having problems with:
PIII 866Mhz Processor
768Mb of PC133 Ram
Geforce 1 video card (32Mb of RAM)
Gentoo Linux (up to date w/2.6 series kernel)
Nvidia driver w/XV support (MythTV opens up an XV port when it starts
playback)
Running at 1024X768 res with a color depth of 24 on blackbox
Sound blaster live audio card...
This is another computer on my network which actually plays back video
without issue:
PIII 450Mhz Processor
128Mb of PC100 Ram
Nvidia Vanta TNT 2 video card (32Mb of RAM)
Gentoo Linux (up to date w/2.4 series kernel)
Nvidia driver w/XV support (MythTV opens up an XV port when it starts
playback)
Running at 1024X768 res with a color depth of 24 on blackbox
ac97 onboard audio
If the 450Mhz can play video, why can't the 866Mhz?? I know it is some
stupid setting, but I have checked everything that I can think to try
(including network speed and hard drive dma modes) and can't find
anything wrong.. I'm stumped, any suggestions would be appreciated.
