[mythtv-users] lirc woes - bttv?

Hey everyone,

I'm doing a fresh install of mythtv (using Jarod's
guide, and the latest ATrpm kernel
2.4.22-1.2199.nptl_52.rhfc1.at), and everything is
going fine and dandy until I get to lirc, where it
becomes a nightmare. When I do the initial ATrpm
install of lirc and the kernel module for lirc,
everything works OK. I reboot, and boom, it no longer
works. Specifically, this is what I'm getting:

$ /usr/bin/irw
$ /usr/bin/irw
connect: Connection refused

This is what is appearing in /var/log/messages:

Aug 16 08:13:17 localhost insmod:
/lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2199.nptl_52.rhfc1.at/kernel/drivers/media/video/bttv.o:
init_module: No such device
Aug 16 08:13:17 localhost insmod: Hint: insmod errors
can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. You may
find more information in syslog or the output from
dmesg
Aug 16 08:13:17 localhost insmod:
/lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2199.nptl_52.rhfc1.at/kernel/drivers/media/video/bttv.o:
insmod bttv failed
Aug 16 08:13:17 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't
locate module rivatv
Aug 16 08:14:17 localhost su(pam_unix)[4773]: session
closed for user root
Aug 16 08:14:18 localhost lircd 0.7.0pre4[4463]:
accepted new client on /dev/lircd
Aug 16 08:14:18 localhost lircd 0.7.0pre4[4463]: could
not open /dev/lirc
Aug 16 08:14:18 localhost lircd 0.7.0pre4[4463]:
default_init(): No such device
Aug 16 08:14:18 localhost lircd 0.7.0pre4[4463]:
caught signal

I have a PVR-350, so I'm pretty sure I don't need the
bttv.o object to run ivtv. I've tried various
permutations of moving bttv.o in and out, starting
lircd at startup and manually, even removing and
reinstalling the packages, and nothing seems to work
right. I can't imagine I'm the only person that has
run into this issue, as my hardware configuration
isn't unique, and I've been following Jarod's document
line for line. Anyone know what I need to do to get
lircd working? Do I need to install an older version
of lirc? Just want to get the damn remote to work...
:)

Thanks alot!
