I just built a Pundit-base MythTV setup and, so far, I'm super happy
with it. Its small, can go in the vertical or horizontal orientation
(although when horiz. the left side is unfinished). And I've got a
200G barracuda HD, CD-ROM, and PVR250, with a Celeron 2.4G proc and
there seems to be no problem with the power supply. I don't have all
the ports working yet, but I'm confident that will come.
With regards to how quiet they are, well, before I enabled the Q-Fan
option in the bios it sounded like your average jet engine (like
every other PC I've seen). But since I enabled Q-Fan it is barely
audible 95% of the time. I can hear the fan kick in if I give it some
serious transcoding, but normally its virtual inaudible. For point of
demonstration, I have it in the open in my bedroom about 4 ft from my
head when I sleep and I've never even noticed it. Although I do live
in the city so there is a bit of ambient noise to muffle it, I think
even in a completely quiet surrounding, it would be very acceptable.
Good luck!
