[mythtv-users] Pundit SIS video goodness and audio question

Greets -

I've been lurking on the list for a while and when I ran across the
Asus Pundit I picked one up for my HTPC. My primary use will be for
DVDs and the secondary use will be for DirecTV.

I've seen lots of posts in the archives about onboard video. Let me
tell you, the sis drivers are awesome but you really should get both
the current sisfb and the sis_drv.o for x.org 6.7.0. For me I'm able to
boot into 1024x760 at the console and then run x.org at 1280x720. My
video out is via the DVI-D and hooked to a Pansonic PT-L500U projector.
If people want to see details of my sis video driver config let me
know, I'll put them up somewhere.

My current question is regarding the onboard audio. Using the gentoo
2.6.7-r11 kernel with ALSA I have no problems getting output from the
optical on the front side of the pundit into my A/V receiver. I have
configured MythDVD to use xine and testing a DTS 5.1 DVD (K-PAX) my A/V
receiver correctly told me it was receiving DTS 5.1 input.

I know the onboard audio is limited to 48kHz and I'm wondering if going
with a SB Audigy 2 ZS card would be better as it provides 92kHz/24bit
surround hardware. The other issue is that if I do go with the Audigy
how do I get a working S/PDIF out the rear of the pundit? Obviously I
cannot use the SB supplied front panel I/O connections as I would have
to remove the DVD drive in the Pundit :)
