Keep in mind that this does not necessarily mean that the DVD output from
you Myth box is inferior to the DVD player. In particular, apart from any
colour-correction issues on the xine/X side of things, there are two
differences that have nothing to do with the computer. First is that one
signal is analog, the other digital (assuming you're using DVI-D or a
digital signal over DVI-I); the second is that the TV could well be applying
different colour correction settings to either input. In fact, DVI inputs
often seem less saturated than their analog counterparts for some/many
things, but are in general actually much more correct. So unless you use a
colour calibration DVD (Avia, DVE) and factor everything else out, don't
assume that the computer is the culprit, or even that the colour you're
seeing from xine is inferior (even if it looks less striking at first glance).

The xine deinterlacer is hit-or-miss for me, but for film source stuff (e.g.
most movies, not TV series), it works beautifully. But the GUI is horrible,
and you have to play around with it a while to make sure you actually have
the deinterlacer (via the tvtime filter, not the 'builtin' deinterlacer,
which is different as far as I can tell) turned on -- it seems to be very
finicky.

For the best picture, you also want to be sure that 720p is actually the
*native* resolution of your Samsung display...
