Yes.

Yes IME. I've always found Maxtor's to be reprehensibly racketty, 
especially doing seeks

They'll do at a pinch, and are fine if you don't plan on doing much CPU 
intensive stuff. If you plan on doing lots of transcoding and/or ripping 
CD's/DVD's, you'll get a huge benefit from switching to a pentium.

The simple remote is kinda sucky (I had an even suckier one - the black 
one). I splashed out on a learning universal remote, which has replaced the 
sucky black one (and all my others as well) - highly recommended if you 
don't have one already.
