     I'm using an ASUS NF7-S motherboard (nForce2 MCP-T), and the
onboard sound is perfectly fine for TV watching.  Although I haven't
listened to the output via headphones, I have not noticed any
noise/distortion while watching plain TV.

     It's not a cheap motherboard, though.
