Greetings myth users,

I have the following setup:

Hardware:
MSI Metis 266
with onboard sound (via82xx) line-in connected to video0 card
Athlon XP 2400+ (enough CPU power for most things)
Nvidia GeForce4 MX 440 with TV out to television
160 GB HD (enough HD space so not a problem)
512 MB RAM (enough RAM so not a problem)
2 x ATI TV Wonder VE as video0 and video 1
1 x Pixelview Play TV PV-CX883PL+FM.RC as video2

OS: linux - gentoo distribution
kernel-2.6.4 with kraxel patch
all relevant drivers for sound and tuners compiled as modules
all modules appear to load without incident except connexant:

cx2388x v4l2 driver version 0.0.3 loaded
PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 0000:00:05.0
PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 0000:00:10.0
PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 0000:00:12.0
cx8800[0]: found at 0000:00:05.0, rev: 3, irq: 11, latency: 32, mmio: 0xde000000
cx8800[0]: subsystem: 0000:0000, board: UNKNOWN/GENERIC [card=0,autodetected]
tuner: chip found at addr 0xc0 i2c-bus cx8800[0]
cx8800[0]: i2c attach [client=(tuner unset)]
cx8800[0]: i2c register ok
cx8800[0]: registered device video2 [v4l2]
cx8800[0]: registered device vbi2

All tuners are set to NTSC and mythtv is set to the proper provider (Cox). Also, mythfilldatabase runs fine with no errors and MythWeb seems to list all the appropriate programs with the proper channels.

So far I have all the parts working as expected for everything but live tv. The problem is sound with live tv. Since I have the first (i.e., video0) ATI card set as the default, all the symptoms that I refer to below are related to this card. I get the echo when I set line-in to capture and mute line in. I get no sound when I eliminate the capture of the mute. MythMusic works perfectly so the sound driver is setup fine.

I have tried just about everything to get sound going but I am just perplexed. Is anyone else having problems with sound and live tv with the TV Wonder VE? I read the archives and see several others with similar problems with similar bttv cards but few responses that are different than what I have done so far. Perhaps this is a problem that flies under the radar of the developers and users? Thanks in advance for any tips.
