No, You have to have the linux kernel sources installed for the lirc
kernel driver to work. And the lirc driver has to match the running
kernel. So you go to the /usr/src/linux or where ever you have the
kernel sources. copy the correct config file from the configs folder -
which one? I don't know - try to match you uname -r results.
then edit the top line of the file to remove the custom from the name
then save and run make oldconfig
I'm going to rebuild one of my frontends soon and I'll try to get a step
by step howto written for it.
