PS: If this doesn't work, you may want to try
installing a windows partition just to see if it works
at all with Hauppauge's stuff. ( I know ity sounds
ugly, but I would never have figured it out
otherwise.)

I had a ton of problems because MOBO/case grounding
issues.  For a while even windows wouldn't recognize
the IR device.

In particular the Morex/Casetronics 26xxR and similar
cases have problems, as does the EPIA-M in general. 
My box had intermittent problems with IR, network and
sound jacks because of this.
