 I doubt you have to reload the drivers. I have EXACTLY the same
problem, but do not have to reload. I just have to restart the
backend. Verbose mode shows nothing unusual. I'll attempt to get a
backtrace today or tomorrow.

Keith,
Your right I do not have to reload the drivers, just re-start the backend. I replaced my ram with with DDR re-installed everything. Without re-booting after getting mythtv setup I could record shows back to back without stopping. The only roblem was that the picture had blue vertical stripes through it. I re-booted the picture was good but I can only record one show and it stops on the second one.  Verbose shows nothing unusual on mine also. I am running with the default settings for picture quality, which are hiqh, I going try lowering the settings to see if that helps.
