Well, that sucks (pardon my spanish). I am running oss sound, my hope
was that once I got around to using alsa it would all be fixed.  I guess
that won't happen...

I am running an Athlon but I don't think it is a mobo or cpu problem.  I
thought that it might be a sound problem but I guess that's not it
unless it is in both alsa and oss.  That only leaves me with the nvidia
stuff.  I have a GeForce2 MX with the latest nvidia stuff.

Anyone out there having the "waiting 2 seconds" problem and NOT running
nvidia stuff????
