Just a guess but on my live i found that sound quality (which should be
on /dev/dsp0) really improved when i played with alsa mixer. Master is
about 2/3 and pcm is about 3/4. PCM send - (emu10k1) has all six maxed
out. *AC97 is 0. *This is the one setting that really made the sound on
my live/bttv/ivtv system buggered. The card you use will determine the
other /dev/dsp*'s you might need to use - search this list for help on
that or use the card specific lists.
