Well, I was basing it on the fact that last year, we had news that the FCC
was *requiring* digital tuners in new televisions:

and this OpenCable standard is support through plug n' play cards that
plug directly into the tv itself. The cards are responsible for actually
decrypting the streams. So, unless your tv has a TV-out, you'll be out of
luck. There's no opportunity to drop a mythtv box in between the tv and
the cable, as there is with the external tuner boxes now.
Course, I might be misunderstanding, but this is why I wondered....
I agree that 1-3 year might be pessimistic, but 5 years out (actually, the
FCC estimates 2007), and MythTV will (possibly...I could be missing
something) able to function.
