LIRC can only handle one device but that device can both transmit 
and receive.

I'd recommend hooking http://www.lirc.org/receivers.html 
and http://www.lirc.org/improved_transmitter.html up to the SAME 
serial port and you'll be good to go.  Also, for MythTV purposes,
the transmitter can be built with a MUCH smaller cap than that
schematic calls for.
