[mythtv-users] IR transmitter and receiver recommendation

Dear MythTV users,
I have a mythtv box completely setup except for one piece.. the IR
interface..  I am needing both transmitting and receiving, as I am
needing to control an AT&T cable box from the mythtv system..  Currently
I do not have any IR devices for the system.. The system has 2 serial
and has USB ports..  What device is recommended for ease of use/setup,
and low cost.  I have been looking through schematics of the IR
transmitter and IR receiver on the LIRC page, but from what I've read I
would only be able to use one or the other as lirc doesn't support
controlling two devices..
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
