I'm sure it is possible to speed up the channel change a bit, but you 
would have to dig into the code to do it. Not a technical 
impossibility, just difficult given the current implementation. The 
best reasoning I've heard for not making it faster is because of remote 
frontend situations, where you need a bit more than one or two frames 
buffered...
