I use:
/usr/bin/mplayer -fs  -quiet -zoom  %s 2>&1 >/dev/null < /dev/null

You can keep your -vo xv -nolirc -nojoystick options.  Most likely
adding the </dev/null will fix it for you.  It did for me anyway...
