Good response, Chris, but just to clarify a couple things...

It is not that it is CVS, experimental, abandoned, latest,
or any other characterization that identifies what is needed.
It is only the "devel" branch that has the code for TV-out.

The "km" module grabs frames out of display memory and is only
useful for avview. No other v4l video apps, including mythtv,
can or should use this approach for recording. Don't load km
unless you intend to use avview.

ATI All-in-Wonder, and other ATI graphic cards can be used for
TV-out if the GATOS ati.2 "devel" branch is used. ATI recently
released Linux drivers that are reported to support TV-out.

ATI All-in-Wonder cards cannot be used for video capture for
MythTV or any other video app other than avview.

ATI TV-tuner cards in the "TV Wonder" series use the "bttv"
driver and can be used for recording with MythTV.
