[mythtv-users] how can I do XvMC?

I'm trying to get XvMC working on my NVidia card, but I'm having issues
getting it all working. I've compiled it in without any problems (with
the -lXvMCNVIDIA -lXvMC in settings.pro) and the Myth interface works
fine. However, as soon as I try to watch recordings / live tv
mythfrontend segfaults, and I get the error "No xvmc found" on the
command line.

I've pasted below a few lines from my XFree86.0.log file that shows my
video card and that the XvMC extensions are being loaded when X
actually starts, so I'm pretty sure it is enabled and working.

(--) PCI:*(1:0:0) nVidia Corporation NV18 [GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 8x] rev
162, Mem @ 0xec000000/24, 0xe4000000/26, BIOS @ 0xed000000/17
<snip>

(II) Loading extension XVideo-MotionCompensation

Basically, I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to debug this and
get it working. There seems to be very little documentation on the
subject. Are there certain /dev entries that need to be there that may
not be? Do I need to load the Nvidia kernel module with any special
options? Is Gentoo's devfs messing it up?

Some more specs for my system: Gentoo 1.4, Myth 0.12 compiled from
scratch (not ebuilt), GeForce4 MX 440 AGP8x running 1.0.4496 module.

Thanks in advance.
