I understand, thanks so much for your help. I will try the shell script again. Last time it said it couldn't compile because it couldn't find the kernel source rpms. Looking forward to your modifications.

I retract the statement that you should be in much better shape. Given
all the problems people have been experiencing lately, I decided to
start a bare-metal install of my own. The nvidia driver part is quite
badly broken from what it used to be, for some reason I have yet to
figure out. You can either install from nVidia's own shell script in
the mean time, or stay tuned for a fix tomorrow. I'm badly in need of
sleep right now...
