[mythtv-users] Geforce4 440MX (Gainward) tv out black&white

I've been looking for a way to get this to work with
my GeForce4 440MX card (a Gainward model), and I too
have X working fabulously with it.
Of course, from POST to X is a different story... At
that point, it's black and white.
I haven't been able to gather any concrete information
on this, so the next time I want to bring my MythTV
machine down (it's working so well that I don't want
to though!), I'm thinking of putting the card in my
desktop, which has Windows 2000 installed on it, and
playing around with the TV-Out.
Supposedly the cause of this (from searching the web
with Google) is that the card is having trouble
autodetecting the TV set connected over S-Video or
composite (although most of the cards with composite
out are actually S-Video to composite adaptors), so it
thinks that it needs to send PAL (which on an NTSC TV
will be black and white, slightly elongated).
What I'm thinking is that there might be some sort of
flash memory on the card that retains settings after
they have been set, and you possibly need Windows-only
tools (i.e. from your card manufacturer) to
permanently set these. I don't know if that is the
case, but I'll someday try it out with my card.
I'd love to hasve it boot up in color so that I can
take advantage of some of the splash screen stuff that
comes with newer Linux distributions, like Mandrake.
