I had the same thing last night - I started watching a scheduled recording
about 20 minutes after it started.  When I got towards the end, after the
recording ended my FFW would only go about 1 second at a time.  I did the same
thing as you - saved position, and went back in and it fixed it.  I'm guessing
that this is probably a bug.
